Taking on a volunteer role within the PSA as a Speaking Competitions Coordinator is an incredible opportunity to contribute to one of our flagship programmes and support the growth and development of our Association. Not only will you be positively impacting the professional speaking community, but you’ll also have the chance to develop your leadership skills and expand your network.
About the PSA Speaking Competitions
The PSA Speaking Competitions are an ideal opportunity for members at different levels to showcase their speaking skills within their local region.
Regional winners progress to a semi-final held at one of the PSA’s main conferences, with the top competitors advancing to the final for each competition.
Emerging Speaker of the Year (ESY)
This competition is open to Associate Members who have not previously entered any PSA Speaking Competitions (other conditions apply).

Held at IMPACT!, our one-day summer conference

Regional heats run from January until four weeks before IMPACT!

Semi-final and final take place at IMPACT!
Professional Speaker of the Year (PSY)
This competition is open to Professional Members who have not entered any PSA Speaking Competitions in the same year (other conditions apply).

Regional heats run between June and July

Semi-final and final take place at the Speaking Business Summit in October
About the Role
As Speaking Competitions Coordinator, you will play a key role in delivering both the Emerging Speaker of the Yearand Professional Speaker of the Year competitions, ensuring a high-quality, consistent experience across regions and at the national level.
Eligibility: This role is open to Professional Members and Fellows only.
Key Responsibilities
This is a voluntary role and some of the key responsibilities include:

Acting as the main point of contact for Regional Presidents for all competition queries

Advising Regional Presidents on sourcing suitable judges for regional heats

Proposing and coordinating judges for the semi-final and final rounds

Supporting entrants and potential entrants throughout the process

MC’ing the semi-final and final at PSA national events

Liaising with the Regional Director, Membership Director, and Operations Manager as required

Acting as the operational point of contact for any competition sponsor
