Accounts Scrutineer
Term: 3 years – September 26 to September 29
In 2024 we appointed 2 accounts scrutineers to oversee the finances of the PSA and to work closely with the Financial Director of the PSA. We now seek to rotate those volunteers and to replace one initially so that we can have a fresh pair of eyes on our accounts.

We are seeking an Accounts Scrutineer for PSA UK and PSA Ireland, with terms commencing in September 2026.
This important voluntary role provides independent scrutiny of the Association’s financial records and reporting, supporting sound governance and giving confidence to members that finances are managed responsibly and in line with our charitable and constitutional obligations.
About You
- You bring financial expertise and an objective, independent mindset.
- You have experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping or financial oversight.
- You are confident reviewing accounts and identifying areas requiring clarification.
- You understand the importance of transparency, compliance and good governance.
- You can provide constructive challenge while maintaining professionalism and
discretion. - You are able to work independently and meet agreed reporting deadlines.
Professional qualifications are welcomed but not essential; relevant practical experience is equally valued.

The Role
This is a voluntary, independent role, to provide oversight for the annual accounts of the PSA.
Eligibility: This role is open to Associates, Professional Members and Fellows.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing annual financial statements for PSA UK & Ireland prior to the annual AGM.
- Examining supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and appropriate record-keeping.
- Providing independent scrutiny of income, expenditure and financial controls that we report annually to the membership.
- Raising any queries or concerns with the Finance Director and Board in a timely and constructive manner.
- Confirming whether the accounts present a fair and accurate reflection of the Association’s financial position.
- Preparing a short written report for members to accompany the annual accounts.
Scrutineers work alongside, but independently from, the Board and Finance Director to strengthen financial governance and member confidence.
