Regions Financial Controller

Regions Financial Controller

Term – 2 years from July/August 2026 to July/August 2028

Applications are open from 5 June until 22 June.
Interviews will take place between 23 June and 7 July.

Are you detail-oriented, financially minded, and passionate about helping the PSA’s Regions thrive?

We are seeking a Regions Financial Controller to work alongside the Financial Director and our bookkeeping team to provide clear, accurate, and timely financial information across all PSA Regions.

The PSA’s Regions play a vital role in delivering value to our members. To support sustainable growth and informed decision-making, we need robust financial reporting that helps Regional Presidents and the Board understand how each Region is performing.

As Regions Financial Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring that monthly financial information is accurate, accessible, and meaningful. You will help identify opportunities and challenges, support good financial governance, and contribute to the long-term financial health of the Association.

If numbers, systems, and supporting informed decision-making appeal to you, this could be the perfect role for you.

Working closely with the Financial Director, our bookkeeper, and Regional Presidents, this voluntary role combines financial oversight, reporting, and collaboration to ensure our Regions have the information they need to operate effectively.

About You

You are organised, analytical, and comfortable working with financial information.

You have strong attention to detail and enjoy ensuring accuracy in reporting and processes.

You are confident working with financial systems and are experienced in using Xero.

You can identify trends, spot potential issues, and communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

You are comfortable working collaboratively with volunteers, Board members, Regional Presidents, and external suppliers.

Accountancy or bookkeeping experience would be beneficial, although practical financial management experience and confidence using Xero are essential.

The PSA is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates, regardless of background or identity.

The Role

This is a voluntary financial oversight and reporting role working closely with the Financial Director.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Financial Director in producing timely monthly accounts for each PSA Region.
  • Publishing monthly financial data for Regional Presidents and the Board.
  • Working with Xero and the PSA’s bookkeeper to ensure income and expenditure are correctly allocated.
  • Monitoring Regional financial performance and highlighting any concerns where expenditure consistently exceeds income.
  • Supporting Regional Presidents by providing clear financial information to aid decision-making.
  • Reporting periodically to the Financial Director and the Board.
  • Reviewing venue contracts and confirming financial commitments and payment arrangements in a timely manner.
  • Helping maintain strong financial controls and governance across all Regions.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve reporting processes and financial visibility.

Why This Role Matters

Strong financial oversight enables our Regions to deliver excellent member experiences while remaining financially sustainable.

As Regions Financial Controller, you will provide the financial clarity that helps Regional Presidents, the Board, and the wider Association make informed decisions. Your work will help ensure that resources are managed effectively, risks are identified early, and Regions can continue to grow and support members successfully.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute your expertise, gain valuable leadership experience within the PSA, and make a meaningful impact on the future success of the Association.

If you are interested in this role or would like further clarification, please speak with PSA UK & Ireland Chair, Yvonne Emery.
