About this event

This month at PSA Thames Valley we have an event to help you #StandOut with a purpose!

Stressed and don’t know what you are doing with your life? Then this is the perfect meeting for you!

Ruth Fogg will help you to understand your stress and give you practical tools to deal with it.

Amy Rowlinson will help you to define your purpose and work out how it can shape your life every day.

George Anderson, Duncan Bhaskaran-Brown and Lara Lauder will join Amy for a panel discussion on the benefits of hosting and guesting on podcasts.

And we will have two showcases – a chance for members to try out material in front of their professional peers and to receive encouragement and constructive feedback.

All this plus the usual fun, interactivity and encouragement that comes from attending a Thames Valley PSA event.

Ruth Fogg

Ruth Fogg specialises in providing practical skills and solutions to understand and manage stress in both personal and professional situations.

She has been  a “stresspert” since 2002 and her qualifications include a Diploma and MSc in Counselling Psychology, Teaching, Hypnosis, Emotional Freedom Technique and Stress Management. She wears hearing aids in both ears but is an excellent lipreader! She says that the only thing that frustrates and stresses her out is when she cannot hear what is going on due to a lack of awareness of the people and circumstances around her which could be easily addressed.

Her background is in Education, in teaching, youth work, as an FE and HE lecturer at Brunel University and Ofsted Inspector!  She is currently a school governor in her local community.

She is an Honorary Fellow of Brunel University, a Fellow of The International Stress Management Association, a member of the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council and The Complementary and National Healthcare Council as well as a professional member of the PSA with Thames Valley being her “home” region

Duncan Bhaskaran-Brown

Duncan became a writer in primary school when he wrote a story about his pet cat called Jelly Lumps (for clarification Duncan has never owned a cat).

But he really blossomed when he started a newspaper called The Sunday Rag. Despite its limited circulation it taught him that writing is collaborative art and selling words involves running around a church hall extracting money, ten pence at a time.

He started writing seriously in his early twenties, first for the stage, then for the screen. He reached the heights of dramatic fiction by writing a theological zombie film. Which may explain why most of his work never hit the big screen.

He started writing non-fiction in 2015 – in a desperate attempt to make writing pay. It sort of worked and he’s publishing his fourth book on boxing day this year.
