About this event
Great speaking is rarely about perfection.
It is about presence, connection, resilience, experimentation, and learning how to navigate the wonderfully unpredictable world of professional speaking.
Join us for our September PSA South East Regional Event for an evening of insight, inspiration, practical learning and connection, with two brilliant keynote speakers: Andy Green and Aaron Phipps MBE.
As always, there will also be member showcases, networking, conversation, food and refreshments — and plenty of PSA South East fun.
Andy Green will be delivering his keynote; What If Great Speakers Are Full of Contradictions?
Why do some speakers truly connect with an audience?
It may not be because they have perfected every word, polished every movement, or mastered one particular speaking style.
In this thought-provoking keynote, Andy Green explores the paradoxes that sit at the heart of powerful speaking.
The best speakers are often:
- Confident yet humble.
- Structured yet spontaneous.
- Authoritative yet relatable.
- Prepared yet fully present.
Drawing on behavioural psychology and his work with leadership paradoxes, Andy will reveal how our greatest strengths can become de-railers when pushed too far — and how learning to balance these tensions can dramatically improve our stage presence, authenticity and audience connection.
This session will offer a fresh and practical lens for developing your speaking style, helping you move beyond perfection and towards more compelling, influential and human communication.
You will leave with:
- Insight into the behavioural paradoxes behind great speaking
- Greater awareness of how strengths can become derailers under pressure
- A new way of thinking about your own speaking style and stage presence
