About this event
Join us for our July PSA South East event for an evening of insight, inspiration, practical learning, connection, food, refreshments, and the usual South East energy and fun.
We are delighted to welcome two excellent speakers: Jane Gunn and Paul Archer FPSA. Between them, they will help us explore how to navigate change with greater clarity and how to build a speaking business that creates consistent, long-term revenue.
We will also be hosting our regional heats for the Professional Speaker of the Year competition, giving members the opportunity to take to the stage and showcase their speaking talent.
This promises to be a rich and varied evening of learning, networking, encouragement, and community.
Jane Gunn: The Map and Compass – Navigating Change in a Rapidly Evolving Speaking Industry
Drawing on the thinking framework from her book The Mole and The Mountain, Jane Gunn will introduce the Map and Compass as practical tools for navigating uncertainty, disruption, and growth in today’s fast-changing speaking industry.
While many professionals are encouraged to “go with the flow”, Jane challenges us to think more critically, deeply, differently — and even dangerously — about the choices we make and the challenges we face.
This session is not about resisting change. It is about choosing how to move through it with resilience, adaptability, and purpose.
Jane will guide us to question assumptions, reassess our direction, and actively steer our speaking careers rather than being carried along by technology shifts, market noise, or changing audience expectations.
You will leave with:
- A clear thinking framework to navigate complexity, disruption, and career transitions.
- Practical strategies to adapt without losing your direction in a tech-driven speaking landscape.
- New ways to challenge “go with the flow” thinking and make deliberate, values-led decisions.
- Fresh ideas to grow, differentiate, and achieve excellence as a speaker.
- Inspiration to ride the waves of change — without being swallowed by them.
Paul Archer FPSA: How to Consistently Increase Your Revenue – Part Two
Turning interest into income, systems into scale, and relationships into long-term revenue
In November 2023 at Reigate Manor, Paul Archer shared the mindset shift he made in 2013 that transformed his speaking business: niching properly, focusing his message, and choosing who not to work with.
Now, in Part Two, Paul picks up where that story left off.
This session is about what happens after you have found your niche and clarified your offer. It is about how to turn visibility into revenue, interest into commitment, and conversations into consistent business — without chasing clients, working longer hours, or constantly reinventing yourself.
Drawing on nearly 25 years on stage and behind the scenes in financial services, Paul will break down the practical systems and behaviours that now underpin the majority of his income.
From letting technology and AI quietly do the heavy lifting, to guiding clients through a clear sales process that feels helpful rather than pushy, this session offers a practical blueprint for building momentum that compounds over time.
Paul will explore how to:
- Let technology do the heavy lifting so your business works even when you are not.
- Guide clients through your sales process with clarity, confidence, and consistency.
- Foster commitment without pressure or awkward selling.
- Know your client’s “itch” before they have fully articulated it themselves.
- Share competence everywhere so trust is built long before the first conversation.
- Maintain always-on rapport so relationships stay warm, relevant, and valuable.
This is not a theory session. It is the second half of a real journey — the part that turns good intentions into predictable revenue and long-term client relationships.
You will leave with practical ideas you can apply immediately, a clearer view of where revenue is really coming from, and a renewed understanding of how small systems, done consistently, create disproportionate results.
Professional Speaker of the Year Regional Heats
As part of the evening, we will also be running the PSA South East regional heats for the Professional Speaker of the Year competition.
This is always a fantastic opportunity to support fellow speakers, celebrate emerging and established talent, and enjoy the energy that comes from seeing speakers step up and share their message.
Come along to cheer on the competitors, be inspired by their talks, and be part of a warm and supportive PSA South East audience.
What to Expect
As always at PSA South East, this event will include a welcoming mix of:
- Networking and meaningful conversations.
- Practical learning you can apply to your speaking business.
- Connection with fellow speakers and PSA members.
Food, refreshments, and time to catch up.
Encouragement, support, and plenty of fun.
Whether you are an experienced professional speaker, building your speaking business, developing your message, or simply looking for inspiration and connection, this event will give you ideas, encouragement, and practical tools to take away.
We would love to see you there.
Keynote speakers
Jane Gunn, is an expert in the field of conflict resolution, a trained mediator and facilitator, known to her clients as “The Barefoot Mediator”. Listed as a Global Leader in Who’s Who Mediation and featured in Legal 500 Hall of Fame, she is the author of 3 popular books “How To Beat Bedlam In The Boardroom And Boredom In The Bedroom”, “The Authority Guide To Conflict Resolution” and “The Mole and The Mountain”, she has spoken at the United Nations, The White House and the European Commission.
As the world in which we live becomes increasingly focused on the global unrest created by the rise of a pandemic virus, racial inequality, terrorism, climate change, financial instability and more, people everywhere are dealing with both the external and internal sense of conflict, constant fear and uncertainty this is creating, Jane is asking:
• What can we, as individuals, do to understand and transform this conflict?
• Are we being woken up to a deeper meaning and message?
• How do we find harmony and balance in a crazy world?
