About this event

Join PSA Scotland East on July 16, 2026 for an evening of networking, learning, and practical ideas to help you change behaviours (yours and your audiences’) and grow a scalable, profitable speaking business.

This event features two keynote sessions, a break to connect with other members and guests, and a short “About PSA” segment for anyone new who wants to understand what PSA is and how to get involved.

Whether you are an established speaker or building momentum, you will leave with tools you can apply immediately: how to design change that sticks, and how to turn your speaking into a sustainable commercial engine.

Duncan Bhaskaran Brown
Bells, Hankies and Habits: The Surprising Science of Behaviour Change

In May 2026, Duncan Bhaskaran Brown set a Guinness World Record by morris dancing 200 miles along the Thames Path in seven days. Bells ringing and hankies flying aside, it became a real-world test of what actually creates lasting behaviour change.

In this keynote, Duncan shares what those 200 miles taught him about the science and psychology of meaningful change, blending neuroscience, lived experience, and practical tools speakers can use for themselves and their audiences.

Key takeaways:

  • The power of a compelling “why”: How to uncover motivations that outlast willpower and sustain change.
  • Community and accountability: Practical ways to build support systems that increase follow-through.
  • Joy as a behaviour change multiplier: Why delight is not optional and how to design it into change.

Seyi Agbede
The Growth Code for Speakers: Building a Scalable, Profitable and Sustainable Speaking Career

Most speakers chase visibility: more stages, more content, more exposure. Very few build a speaking career that is structured, scalable, and commercially sustainable.

In this keynote, Seyi Agbede introduces The Growth Code™, a practical framework designed for professional speakers to shift from activity-driven hustle to intentional growth across clarity, strategy, performance, and monetisation.

Key takeaways:

  • A clear framework for building a scalable speaking business, not just getting more gigs
  • How to set meaningful goals across short-, medium-, and long-term horizons
  • A focused strategy that aligns speaking with influence and income
  • How to improve performance using systems, leverage, and AI without burnout
  • How to turn speaking into a wealth-generating business, not just a passion
  • A practical action model to implement immediately after the session

Duncan Bhaskaran-Brown

Duncan became a writer in primary school when he wrote a story about his pet cat called Jelly Lumps (for clarification Duncan has never owned a cat).

But he really blossomed when he started a newspaper called The Sunday Rag. Despite its limited circulation it taught him that writing is collaborative art and selling words involves running around a church hall extracting money, ten pence at a time.

He started writing seriously in his early twenties, first for the stage, then for the screen. He reached the heights of dramatic fiction by writing a theological zombie film. Which may explain why most of his work never hit the big screen.

He started writing non-fiction in 2015 – in a desperate attempt to make writing pay. It sort of worked and he’s publishing his fourth book on boxing day this year.
