About this event
Afternoon Members Only Masterclass – Ditch the Fear and THEN Do It Anyway
As professional speakers and trainers, we actively embrace doing what most people go to great lengths to avoid. But even the most seasoned speakers can sometimes experience nerves or discomfort about a high-stakes presentation or negotiation.
In growing a successful speaking business, most of us venture beyond our comfort zone – speaking to new or bigger audiences, working with unfamiliar tech or formats, dealing with awkward people, working on video, marketing ourselves…. If these sorts of situations can have you on the back foot, then fear not… You don’t have to get through it the hard way.
When fear strikes, there’s a common assumption that the only way through is to tough it out. In this interactive masterclass, we’ll bust that myth, diving deep into some enticingly straightforward ways to re-train your mind’s less than helpful habits, and equipping you to shine even more of the time.
We’ll explore:
- How Helium could be the key to your inner calm
- The biggest mistake almost everyone makes, and how to avoid it
- How to harness the full power of your imagination, to prepare for big events
- How to stay at your most resourceful when the pressure’s on
Evening Event (open to all) – Turning Inertia to Impact, and Getting the Most from the PSA
Sue Evans: Changing Minds – Turning Inertia into Impact
In growing a thriving business and delivering exceptional outcomes, your biggest competitor probably isn’t other speakers or trainers. It’s probably not new technologies, or sector trends. It’s inaction, or inertia – because people (even us!) don’t always do what’s good for us, even when we know how to…
This inertia can have significant consequences, including:
- For your audience – not applying the insights and learnings which you share, because life gets in the way when they’re busy
- For yourself – wasting precious time and energy on marketing which is no longer delivering the best results, or in sectors which no longer have the greatest potential
- For your bookers – sticking with existing solutions or providers, even if what you offer is better, losing you bookings
This session equips speakers, trainers and coaches to recognise and overcome this inertia in yourself, your bookers and your audience, enabling you to speak both more and better.
Paul Dornan – Collaborate To Keynote
Collaborating with the right coach or creative partner can revolutionise a speaking practice—both onstage and off. The right partnership can sharpen your vision, refine your storytelling, and amplify your voice, elevating your impact as a speaker.
However, finding the right collaborator isn’t always straightforward—or inexpensive—which is why making smart, intentional choices is essential.
This ideas-full 20-minute session will help attendees identify the key traits of productive partnerships, offering actionable advice and warm-hearted encouragement in equal measure.
We’ll look at different forms of collaboration and where you find them. In the PSA and elsewhere.
By sharing real-world examples, practical tips, and insights from years of experience, this talk from Paul will guide speakers to make the leap that will bring their fantastic long-term benefits in terms of speaking better, to a higher level, far more enjoyably, for more money.
Key takeaways:
- Identifying the different sorts of collaboration that suit individual speaking styles
- How to find collaborators who truly get you and your needs.
- Setting the right expectations and boundaries that align with your goals.
- Spotting the green lights of successful collaborative relationships.
- How the ROI in a collaboration can be amazing
No wonder collaboration is the PSA theme this year. it’s a win-win-win!
Anything more than that would be a spoiler! So if you:
- Want to understand one PSA colleague’s journey and what it might mean for you
- Want to seek help for something that’s holding you back
- Want to be there to ‘pay it forward’ and help your fellow speakers
… Then you need to be at our May meeting!
Keynote speakers
Sue’s mission is to get busy people fixing tough problems.
She’s led programmes which more than doubled productivity within two international businesses, and delivered £1.9M waste reduction in under 5 months, with a zero spend. She’s used to delivering big results from little budgets.
Sometimes a compelling business case or well-presented plan isn’t enough. Changing mindsets and behaviours isn’t easy – that’s why so many performance programmes give patchy results. Bucking that trend, Sue’s signature blend of continuous improvement and behavioural science underpin massive performance breakthroughs.
Paul Dornan has worked in the TV, film and books as a writer, producer, script-mentor and director. He’s written drama series that are funny and comedies that are dramatic, won a Comedy Award with Alistair McGowan and co-written a Sunday Times Number 1 best-selling Christmas comedy book. He’s worked with a galaxy of stars from Barry Humphries Caroline Aherne to Hugh Bonneville to Doc from Back To The Future as well as some of the world’s top writers, producers and creatives.
Paul now a speaker and creative consultant, helping keynote speakers and business leaders with structure, humour and characterful storytelling. He runs the Comedy course at the renowned Faber Academy and Find Your Funny masterclasses at the Comedy Store in London. He’s about to start on a collaboration of his own with speaker and writer Andreas Loizou as one half of the true Human advantage podcast, book and keynote project.
