New Role - Membership Upgrade Coordinator

NEW ROLE – Membership Upgrade Coordinator

Term – 3 years from July/August 2026 to July/August 2029

Are you passionate about helping members achieve their next level of recognition? Do you enjoy encouraging others to step forward and supporting them to succeed?

We are seeking a Membership Upgrade Coordinator to champion and grow engagement with our membership upgrade pathways.

Our membership is currently heavily weighted towards Associate Members.  This has been a result of the historic Speaker Factor Competition which encouraged speakers to join as associates to take part in the competition and not being clear enough on member benefits for them to then upgrade to professional membership.

We want to restore that balance.  During 2024/25 we only had one member upgrade to Fellow.

We have worked hard to clarify the Fellow upgrade process (sincere thanks to Jackie Barrie for all the work she has put in to clarify and simplify the process).

Now that the process to upgrade has been clarified, we have 6 members going through the process to upgrade to Fellow.

In conjunction with the Board, the training team and the RPs, your role will be to encourage members to aspire to their appropriate level and to smooth their journey through the process

If that sounds like your passion, please apply for this role.

Working closely with the Membership Director and the team at HQ, this voluntary role combines co-ordination with proactive promotion — ensuring not only that the process runs smoothly, but that more members feel inspired, informed and ready to upgrade.

About You

You are proactive, enthusiastic and confident, encouraging others to aim higher.

  • You are a strong communicator who can clearly explain criteria, benefits and expectations.
  • You are comfortable promoting initiatives and encouraging participation.
  • You are organised and able to track multiple applications at different stages.
  • You will be able to work collaboratively with volunteer leaders and the HQ team.
  • You are confident facilitating conversations, briefings or events (online or in person).
  • You value professional standards and understand the importance of recognition within a membership body.

The PSA is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates, regardless of background or identity.

The Role

This is a voluntary co-ordination and advocacy role working alongside the Membership Director and HQ. (Administrative processing of applications is handled by the Membership Secretary at HQ.)

Responsibilities include:

  • Actively promoting membership upgrades and encouraging eligible members to progress.
  • Developing initiatives or campaigns to raise awareness of upgrade pathways and their benefits in conjunction with the HQ team.
  • Organising and hosting briefings, workshops or Q&A sessions to support members preparing to upgrade.
  • Acting as the liaison between the Membership Director, assessors and HQ regarding upgrade applications.
  • Providing guidance and clarity to members about criteria, timelines and expectations.
  • Monitoring progress and ensuring applications move forward in a timely manner.
  • Identifying opportunities to strengthen engagement and increase upgrade uptake.

Why This Role Matters

The membership upgrade pathway recognises excellence and professional growth within the PSA community. As Membership Upgrade Coordinator, you will not only safeguard the integrity of the process, but actively inspire members to step up, gain recognition and continue raising standards across the profession.

If you are interested in this role or for further clarification please speak with PSA UK and Ireland Chair: Yvonne Emery. [email protected] 0333 444 8910
