As we zoom towards the end of 2023, we wanted to take the opportunity to look back on a big highlight of the year—the Speaking Business Summit 2023 Awards.
The Awards dinner is always an extraordinary evening, with almost an air of magic in the atmosphere. Our delegates dress to impress and gather to celebrate their good friends and speaking community. This year, we all gathered at Voco St John’s in Birmingham for a beautiful evening of celebration, joy, and, let’s be honest, a few happy tears.

PSAE (Professional Speaking Award of Excellence)
David Meade is a world-class international corporate speaker, performer and TV personality with a renowned reputation for helping organisations work more effectively. His mind-reading and mentalist skills impress and baffle worldwide audiences, making his entertainment and keynotes hard to forget!
Julie Holmes is a serial inventor and international keynote speaker (Fellow-PSAUKI) who has created and launched awesome apps (like the speaker-focused CRM, SpeakerFlow CRM), tiny tech (heard of Hey Mic!?), and delightful digital products with clever customers in over 50 countries.
Mediator, speaker and author Jane Gunn is a former corporate lawyer. She specialises in transforming business relationships and has helped numerous companies move from deadlock situations to opening new revenue streams and a vibrant corporate culture. Jane’s mission is to help people and organisations manage change, challenges and crises without suffering massive financial and personal costs.
President’s Award
Penny Haslam is an award-winning speaker, coach and trainer on the subjects of Communication and Confidence. Her business, Bit Famous, develops the communication capability and confidence of leaders and emerging talent in some of the world’s largest organisations, particularly in the technology and finance sectors.
Spirit of Joy
When David joined the Professional Speaking Association in 2016, he realised that even good speakers produce bad slides! And now he’s on a crusade to eradicate excruciatingly boring slide presentations and teach people how to produce slides that wow their audience and make their talks memorable and effective.
The PSA Operations Team
The PSA Board awarded a second Spirit of Joy award this year to recognise the exceptional work of the PSA Ops team. Spearheaded by Sara-Beth Reynolds, the team works tirelessly throughout the year to ensure every event, region, member, and speaker has what’s needed to speak more and speak better.
Speaker Factor Winner
David Duffett is an internationally renowned and experienced Speaker and Trainer. For over 25 years, he has delivered training, conference speeches and keynotes globally – all within the technical sphere. Through 7 Power Presenting Protocols, he has enabled professionals within technical industries to go from nervous, anxious presenters lacking confidence and sounding monotonous and robotic to delivering yawn-free presentations with confidence and clarity – ultimately leading to better customer relationships and more sales.
