About this event

Oh the excitement, it is Speaker Factor Month!

Yes, it is the Thames Valley Speaker Factor Heat, a chance for our emerging speakers to show what they can do and compete for a place in the semi-final and final of the PSA Prestigious Speaker Factor Competition.

We also have two fantastic keynote speakers:
Mark Lee will be talking about getting referred and recommended and Darren Harris, smash hit at the last PSA conference, will be talking about resilience.

This is one not to be missed!

Keynote details:

Mark Lee: How to be better remembered, referred and recommended
Whether you are focused on speaking, training, coaching or consulting you want more business. You may hope this will come to you because you have a website or a book. In real life most of us need to take a more active role in generating new enquiries. That means doing what it takes to ensure that we will be effectively remembered, referred and recommended.

By the end of this session you will have learned :

  •  Why being ‘remembered’ is not enough to generate business
  • The missing elements in the popular ‘know, like and trust’ formula
  • The 4 suits approach to having more powerful conversations
  • The most common mistakes to avoid on Linkedin and social media
  • How to adopt Mark’s 5Ms to avoid wasting time and money on your marketing and networking

Darren Harris: How to overcome adversity like a pro
Like you, I’m yet to hear of a speaker who hasn’t experienced adversity. Unaddressed, adversity can lead to a downward spiral, leaving us thinking the worse, feeling bad, and behaving out of character. But while our genes and environment have an impact on how we respond, our mindset is the one thing we have the most influence over.

In this session, you’ll learn how to turn adversity to your advantage by taking a positive approach so you can become happier, healthier and more productive in your personal and professional life.

Mark Lee

Mark’s aim is to focus audiences’ attention on what they need to do differently to succeed in the immediate future.

In a previous life, as a chartered accountant and chartered tax adviser, Mark spent 25 years in practice and was a partner at two top firms of accountants.

Since 2006 Mark has been a solopreneur speaker, author and mentor. He is also a proud Fellow of the Professional Speaking Association and was Treasurer of The Magic Circle for 7 years.

Mark has spoken many times and written dozens of articles and blog posts about the value of standing out from the crowd so that you can be better remembered, referred and recommended.

Darren Harris

Darren Harris is a speaker, coach and facilitator who gives people in business and education the psychological skills to overcome adversity. He works with organisations that want a fun, unique and positive perspective.

He lost his sight after he was diagnosed with cancer of both eyes. But although he couldn’t regain his sight, he could unblind his mind, which meant transforming how he viewed blindness.

A dual Paralympian, Darren is best known as England’s most capped blind footballer. But he also competed at the Games in judo.

His motto is “Your eyes are useless unless you use what’s between your ears”.
