About this event

What a way to spend Valentine’s Day! Come and share the love of speaking at our London February event where you will discover a passion for slides that save lives and learn how to engage with the right collaborators to take your speaking to the next level.

Keynote: Dave Henson
We’ve all been there – sat in an audience being subjected to the pain and tedium of an excruciatingly dull and dreary slide presentation.

We pity the poor presenter as they attempt to deliver a message that just isn’t getting through and they stare out from the stage at a sea of unengaged faces.|

But could that person on stage be you? Maybe your slides suck?

Dave’s talk is aimed at fundamentally changing the way you think about presenting when using slides.

Come along to learn how to wow your audience and ensure your message hits home.

By listening to this speech you will learn:

  • When to use (and just as importantly) when not to use slides.
  • The benefits of treating your slides as your partner on stage.
  • How to produce slides that save lives.

Keynote: Paul Dornan – Connect, Collaborate, Thrive

Even the most private of Lone Wolves need a little help from the pack sometimes. Connecting then collaborating with the right coach or creative partner can revolutionize a speaking practice—both onstage and off. The right partnership can sharpen your vision, refine your storytelling, and amplify your voice, elevating your impact as a speaker. Especially for those wanting to make the move from expert trainer to genuine keynote speaker.

This ideas-full 30-minute session will help you identify the key traits of productive partnerships, offering actionable advice and warm-hearted encouragement in equal measure. Including a couple of short exercises, this relaxed interactive session will see us look at different forms of collaboration and where you find them. In the PSA and elsewhere too.

That said, finding the right collaborator isn’t always straightforward -or inexpensive-which is why making smart, intentional choices is essential. By sharing real-world examples, practical tips, and insights from his decades of collaboration and coaching experiences, Paul will help you do so. And find another possible path to speaking better, to a higher level and have a lot of fun on the way.

Fireside Chat with Jackie Barrie

Jackie is renowned for engaging rooms in original ways. She is a Fellow of the PSA, and co-founder and former RP of SE region.

Having been involved with the PSA since 2011 as an Associate then Professional member, she has plenty of insights to share about the PSA and how we can grow through it.

She will also challenge us to a fun PSA quiz.

Dave Henson

Trained in photography and audio-visual production, David Henson set up The Regent Slide Company in 1986 and spent years producing thousands of 35mm slides for many and varied businesses. But it was spending time sitting in audiences listening to professional speakers that brought home the realisation that even good speakers produce bad slides. And now he’s on a crusade to eradicate excruciatingly boring visual communications and to teach people how to produce slides and presentations that wow their audiences and that make their talks memorable and effective.
