Our September meeting will give you exactly this as we’ve got two incredibly experienced and successful speakers coming to share their insights and tips with you.
Our first speaker of the night is our very own PSA Chairperson, Joanne Lockwood who will be sharing her tips, tricks and strategies around building a speaking business. She’s going to walk us through what’s worked well for her over the last 6 years, what’s not and give you some insights to inspire you to grow and build your own speaking business. Jo has built a business with an annual turnover of over £150k a year even through covid – starting from nothing so you’ll be sure to learn a thing or two to implement in your business.

- Just one thing you can implement in your own speaking business
- Finding niche and how to look for opportunities
- Maximising your membership of the PSA and leveraging your network
Our second speaker of the evening is Derek Williams, Founder of The WOW! Awards and someone that receives over 50,000 customer nominations for exceptional service every year. In his talk called ‘Leave your Ego at Home’ Derek will share three key ways to be memorable for all the right reasons and highlight the things that could stop you from being re-booked.
Expect to leave this session having or knowing:
- The little things that customers notice. How you can do the good stuff consistently.
- How to let your customers know that you love them.
- How to leave your customers with a positive impression.
- Feedback from event organisers – what could speakers do to give the organiser outstanding customer service and get booked again.
Our Showcase speaker this month is our very own Derek Cheshire.

Keynote speakers
Joanne Lockwood, Founder and CEO of SEE Change Happen, is an Inclusion and Belonging specialist, speaker, and Fellow of the PSA. She works with organisations throughout the UK, Europe and beyond, challenging corporate mentality, and providing a service that goes far beyond “just” Diversity & Inclusion. He has been a Fellow of the PSA for 9 years. As well as building two successful businesses using his skills as a speaker, he is Chair of a leisure group with 2,500 employees.
