PSA East Midlands are delighted to present not 1, not 2 but 3 masterclasses to elevate your speaking. If you’re looking to speak more and speak better, then join us on, Wednesday, 02 October, for an action-packed event at The Village Hotel in Nottingham.

If you have been promising yourself that after summer, you’ll focus more on your speaking business and finish 2024 strong, then we have the event for you.

This event has been structured to provide you with both in-depth learning and practical takeaways, but not overwhelm you. These mini masterclasses will leave you inspired and energised for the rest of the year.

Members Only Masterclass: Presentation Design – A System for Structuring Presentations that Works with Simon Raybould.

Our first masterclass is for members only.

Before the main event kicks off, PSA members are invited to an exclusive masterclass with the expert presenter and former research scientist, Simon Raybould.

In this workshop, Simon will guide you through the process of creating a presentation structure that is most effective for your content and delivery. You’ll leave with the design—and some content—of your next presentation, starting from scratch. This session is crucial for anyone who wants to ensure their presentation’s design serves as a strong foundation for delivering impactful content.

If you don’t know Simon Raybould yet, you’re in for a real treat! Simon has an eclectic background that includes work as a research scientist, lighting designer, playwright, and even a fire-eater! His expertise in presentation design is renowned, with his workshop at last year’s national conference earning a standing ovation. He’s a TEDx speaker, consultant, author and trainer and ready to share his valuable insight to make your speaking more impactful.

Following the Members Only Masterclass, our main event will kick off at 5.45pm with a buffet dinner and networking, offering an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow speakers and professionals.

Fuelled up and ready to learn, you’ll get involved in small group mini-masterclasses, focusing on different aspects of speaking and business success.

These sessions will be led by our brilliant PSA members who are experienced professionals or Fellows. It’s a unique chance to receive focused guidance on areas you want to improve in your speaking business.

Whether you’re looking to refine your content, enhance your delivery, or explore new marketing strategies, these mini-masterclasses are designed to give you the concentrated attention you need to take your speaking career to the next level.

Keynote speakers

Simon Raybould

Simon Raybould is a speaker and author who began his career as a trainer, specialising in presentation skills. Over the course of seven years, he gathered a wealth of tools, tips, and techniques for managing the nerves associated with performing, particularly during presentations.

Eventually, Simon transitioned to a broader-based soft skills training company called Aware Plus. It was there that he was introduced to foundational concepts such as positive psychology. Simon eventually found himself delivering a significant amount of stress management training—an important starting point, though he quickly recognised it was only part of the larger picture.

Through the years, Simon integrated these new ideas into his existing knowledge base and, drawing on his background as a researcher (with 24 years of experience in university research), further developed them. As a result, much of the content he shares is a mix of both innovative concepts and tried-and-tested approaches.
