Director of Regions

The mission of the PSA’s Director of Regions is to be the intrinsic link between the Regional Presidents and the Board of Directors. Your essential role is to support the Regional Presidents in performing a challenging and critical role for the PSA and its members.

Could you accept this mission?

As Director of Regions, you will be instrumental in liaising with the PSA Board and the PSA Operations team regarding matters relating to each region’s operation and function. Your primary role is to listen to Regional Presidents’ views, concerns, and ideas and provide feedback on any relevant information to the Board. You will also encourage and assist Regional Presidents in performing their roles to the best of their ability.

About You

  • You are a huge advocate of the PSA. You understand that the 13 regions are the lifeblood of the PSA and actively encourage, support, and promote successful regional activity.
  • You possess strong people and negotiation skills and are happy to engage with Regional Presidents, members and the Board of Directors.
  • You are calm when faced with conflict, resourceful and able to think of innovative and unique ways to strengthen the PSA Regional experience for our members while being highly organised and strategic in your approach.
  • You are a team player and thrive on supporting Regional Presidents and other Board members in achieving regional success.
  • Although not essential, it’s strongly recommended that the Director of Regions has been a Regional President or served on a regional committee in the past.

The Role

This is a voluntary role and some of the key responsibilities include:

  • To support the Regional Presidents in their essential role as the ‘face’ of the PSA.
  • To provide a means for knowledge and experience of previous Regional Presidents to be shared with subsequent holders of the office.
  • To ensure the Regional Presidents can effectively work with the PSA Operations Team and encourage them to do so collaboratively and respectfully.
  • To act as a calm, objective intermediary between the PSA Operations Team and any Regional President in the event of any disagreements or misunderstandings.
  • To improve the level of transparency about how the Board functions and how decisions are made, this information should be communicated effectively and positively to the Regional Presidents and encouraged to be shared with the members of the PSA.
  • Liaise with the Speaker Factor (SF) Coordinator for the annual competition and assist with the competition where needed.
  • Help Regional Presidents run their regions in a way that maintains and reflects PSA standards of professionalism, diversity and accessibility.
  • Visit regions to support and oversee regional meetings, so you understand how differently each region works.
  • Set up and oversee a new WhatsApp group for each new cohort of Regional Presidents, monitor conversations, and help where needed.
  • Run monthly RP meetings to provide ongoing support and disseminate information.
  • Assist the operations team where necessary to ensure the smooth running of each region.
  • Report to the Board to keep them updated with regional developments.
  • Assist with organising and delivering the Regional President induction meeting, typically held in November/December, and encourage Regional Presidents to attend.
  • Provide information to Regional Presidents from Board Meetings should any decisions relate to the regions.
  • Help Regional Presidents increase their meeting attendance and PSA membership.
  • Assist Regional Presidents with succession planning.
