About this event
July’s PSA Virtual Region session focuses on a core principle of every successful speaking business: connection.
Whether you are building your reputation, developing your client base, or refining your delivery, your ability to connect — with clients, audiences, and peers — underpins everything.
This session brings together three experienced speakers, each offering a different practical perspective on connection, communication, and credibility.
The evening combines applied learning, real delivery examples, and shared feedback — finishing with the PSA President’s perspective on how connection drives both impact and commercial success.
Scott Walker MPSA – Why the World Needs Introverted Lawyers
In this session, Scott Walker challenges a common assumption: that success in speaking — and in professional life — depends on being extroverted.
Drawing on nearly two decades in the legal profession, he presents a practical alternative, showing how introversion can be a strength in building trust, communicating clearly, and developing strong client relationships.
This is a structured, thoughtful session that explores how different communication styles influence how we connect with an audience — and how we can use that to our advantage as speakers.
You’ll gain practical insight into how clarity, structure, and calm authority can be used to deliver with impact, handle pressure, and build credibility with any audience.
Lynn Mead MPSA – You’re Not an Imposter — You’re Just Growing
In this session, Lynn Mead addresses a challenge many professionals experience — feeling like an imposter when stepping into more senior or visible roles.
Rather than trying to eliminate these feelings, Lynn reframes them as a natural and useful part of growth. She introduces practical ways to work with discomfort, helping you maintain confidence and clarity when it matters most.
This is a clear, practical session with immediate relevance for speakers — particularly when managing visibility, expectation, and performance.
You’ll come away with practical ways to stay grounded, credible, and effective in front of any audience.
Alastair Greener FPSA – The Art of Connection
This session introduces the PSA’s 2025–26 theme, The Art of Connection, and focuses on a core truth for every professional speaker: connection sits at the centre of a successful speaking business.
In this interactive closing session, PSA President Alastair Greener explores how we establish, develop, and sustain meaningful connections — with our clients, their audiences, and each other — and why this matters commercially as well as professionally.
The session is built around a simple objective: helping you Speak More and Speak Better by strengthening the quality of the connections you create.
You’ll learn how to:
- Understand why connection underpins every successful speaking business
- Build stronger, more meaningful relationships with clients and audiences
- Use The Art of Connection to increase both your impact and opportunities
Keynote speakers
Scott Walker is a Solicitor, trainer, and professional speaker in Wills and probate law, as well as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Law. He is also an introvert, a Highly Sensitive Person, and someone who was once told he was too quiet to make it in law. But Scott has found that the very traits he and others thought were weaknesses have actually become his biggest strengths.
Drawing on personal experience of building a successful career as a shy and introverted lawyer, he challenges traditional narratives of success and champions the power of quiet leadership, deep listening, and thoughtful communication.
Through practical skills-based training, Scott now helps legal professionals and law firms understand how introversion and extroversion shape how we work. He champions the belief that by embracing diverse personality types, we can build stronger teams, deepen client relationships, and create a more inclusive, human-centred profession.
As a speaker specialising in Generational Communication, Alastair helps organisations understand and bridge the communication gap between generations.
He is the founder of Present Yourself, leading workshops on communication, and is also an experienced event
MC and moderator.
As President, Alastair oversees the PSA’s two annual conferences in 2026 (Impact and the Speaking Business Summit) and plays an active role on the PSA Board. He is PSA Fellow, former Regional President and Director of Regions, and his
mission for the year is to help us all Speak More and Speak Better through The Art of Connection.
