About this event
We have another fantastic month planned for you at PSA Staffordshire this month!
Anthony Stears – Conversational Strategy: Where Human-to-Human Beats AI
In an increasingly automated world, the real competitive advantage lies in genuine human connection. Anthony Stears explores how strategic, intentional conversations create trust, authority and opportunity in ways AI simply cannot replicate.
This session will show professional speakers how to:
- Use conversational strategy to open doors and deepen influence
- Build authentic connections that convert into meaningful business relationships
- Stand out in a crowded marketplace by amplifying their human advantage
- Turn everyday interactions into high-value professional opportunities
For speakers, conversation is not just communication — it is positioning, differentiation and commercial growth.
Phil Ingle – Speaking Professionally to Professionals: The View from the Platform and the Booker’s Desk
Your next client may already be sitting in the audience at a professional association event.
We often hear that the best marketing for a speaker is speaking. Phil examines how to make that strategy work at the highest level — particularly when targeting professional bodies and associations.
Drawing on his experience scheduling events and booking speakers for professional audiences, Phil explores this powerful marketing route from both perspectives: the speaker and the speaker booker.
In this session, you will discover:
- How to position yourself effectively for professional associations
- Why relevance matters more than brilliance
- What bookers genuinely look for beyond performance ability
- How PSA Members and Fellows are selected for CIPD events — and why it is not simply because they belong to the PSA
- How to approach other professional bodies strategically to move closer to your ideal client
It is not just about how good a speaker you are. It is about your relevance, your credibility, and how you present yourself to a professional audience.
This session offers rare insight into how to help professional communities while building sustainable visibility and demand for your speaking business.
Keynote speakers
A published author and international speaker, that often uses training to accelerate the learning process. He has fast become the go-to person when it comes to telephone engagement, and helping companies to improve both sales and service through conversation.
Anthony Stears is better known as “The Telephone Assassin” and he’s on a mission to get businesses talking again and stopping people from hiding behind their emails and social media. As a conversational strategist he helps clients to get in front of more of their ideal customers and getting more business from their existing clients.
Anthony has been speaking for over a decade now and is an active member of the PSA, Professional Speaking Association. He’s spoken all over the world in front of audiences of up to 4,000 people… some events with up to 11 different interpreters at the back of the room.
As the Past President of PSA London from 2019-21 (yes… through Covid) Anthony is passionate about helping speakers raise their game, and their fees.
Phil makes understanding business and finance easier. As a result, people develop new skills to improve organisational sustainability.
He delivers training both live and online, with recent programmes including Finance for Sales for Tata Steel Europe, Advanced Financial Statement Analysis in Mauritius, Presentation Skills for a Scandinavian Bank, Negotiation Skills in Mergers and Acquisitions, plus Strategy & Business Planning Skills.
Phil’s training programmes have been delivered in 42 countries across Europe and the Middle East, with clients in at least 150 organisations, including insurance companies, banks, energy services, plus hotels, automotive companies, retailers, agriculture, charities and public sector organisations.
Phil’s qualifications include an MBA from Cranfield University, and he is a Master Practitioner in NLP. He also holds the Financial Planning Certificate, is Level A qualified in Psychometric Testing through the British Psychological Society, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. In addition, he is a Member of the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning, The Chartered Institute of Bankers, and a Fellow of the Professional Speaking Association, and Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts & Commerce.
Phil believes that no organisation should be run as ‘not for profit’, and one way the PSA will demonstrate its professionalism is through a sensible balance sheet. In changing economic environments, there will always be challenges. Finance is both an enabler and an outcome for organisations: a Finance Director will remember both.
