We all know storytelling matters, but are you telling the right story, in the right way, at the right time?

Join us this June for a lively and insightful session that was previously named a conference highlight – and for good reason.

This extended version dives deeper into the science behind storytelling, helping you avoid the common traps that dilute your message or disengage your audience.

You’ll discover how to choose the right type and size of story, where to place it for maximum impact, and why some of the stories we think work… simply don’t. Expect practical insights, a few laughs, and perhaps a memorable reminder of why climbing Everest backwards in your underpants isn’t always the best strategy.

Simon Raybould - Regional President - PSA North East

Simon Raybould started his career as a research scientist, using “very hard sums” to look at causes of childhood cancers. He had a 24 year career as a research scientist working with organisations as varied as The W.H.O., the Westminster governments (of various colours!) and the police. This training is one of the things that makes him special as a speaker – he rarely “does opinion”. Instead in draws on a wide research base to stick to what’s to been proven to be true.

Along side this he’s worked as a teacher, lighting designer for dance companies, author, speaker, playwright and professional actor.

He’s also a reasonably proficient fire-eater!
